It's a...

BABY!

We had the "big" ultrasound today, and even though we did NOT find out what we're having, it was still the "big" ultrasound to us.

You read that right... we did NOT find out what we're having.

Actually, I take that back. We found out that we're having a healthy baby who is measuring just right and looking about as perfect as can be. Doesn't that still qualify this as the "big" ultrasound? We think so.

See, after finding out four times what we were having, and being thrilled with the surprise of knowing on the day of the ultrasound, we thought we'd choose a different route this time. We're prepared either way with boy or girl clothes, and either way "it" will be Brody's roommate.

We just agree that since this is most likely our last chance to wait until the very end to find out at delivery if we've been blessed with another boy or another girl, we'd give it a shot. The ultrasound technician was very understanding since he didn't find out with his either, and never even looked "down there" to see what we're having. So NO ONE knows.

(Although THAT would've been a dead giveaway, don't you think?)

Actually, I do know what I'm having. Clearly, since I don't like to eat the heels of a loaf of bread, I'm having a girl. OH WAIT - because I pick up a coffee mug by the handle instead of the body, I'm having a boy. It's all clear now. (Those gender prediction quizzes are cra-zy.)

Our due date was adjusted from August 6th to August 10th (with Brody's birthday being smack dab in the middle on August 8th). Until then, I welcome your suggestions of boy AND girl names!

I can't believe we didn't find out today! (And I'm sooo glad!)

  1. Yay for a healthy Baby!
I am SO proud of you for NOT finding out! We didn't find out for either pregnancy & it is SO.MUCH.FUN to find out at birth! Way to stay strong!!
As far as names...Katelyn & Claire are both great names if I do say so myself. I like flow of Olivia Osbourne. Our top boy names were Luke, Grant & Carter. I am obsessed with baby names :)

  2. We found out with our second two, but NOT our first and it really is a fun surprise! Our family members (they're control freaks, and I mean that in a loving way) were all so frustrated with us and now I understand that because I want my sister to find out and she's not going to! The suspense is killing me.

I'm thankful your baby is healthy. That is happy news, Angie.

  4. You are a stronger woman than I.

But congrats on a healthy and happy little one. I will die a slow death between now and August, but that's OK. Don't worry about your pregnant friend. I'll just sit here on my puffy pillows and grind my teeth. It will be fine.

(Corey and I were at the Mall of America last weekend, and we walked by a group of younger girls who kept looking over at me. I assumed it was because I'm so VISIBLY HUGE that they were disturbed. But then one of them approached and said, "Excuse me, but do you know what you're having?" "A boy," I answered. And the rest of the group threw up a cheer like the Vikings had just won the Super Bowl. Apparently, I'm carrying this baby in a way that betrays the gender of the child within. Maybe you too need to walk around the MOA.)

  5. Yay Ang!! What a sweet pic of his/her profile! And I'm so glad that you didn't find out (I mean I would LOVE to know, but for your sake, I'm glad it wasn't revealed so you can have the big surprise in August!) The suspense is kind of fun. :-) So glad everything looks good!

  6. I'm pregnant with #5 and we're not finding out for the first time ever as well! This will most likely not be our last, but still thought it'd be fun to wait. We're stationed in Germany and get an ultrasound at every single apt so I've become quite spoiled with this baby and our last who was also born here!!

I have a feeling it's going to be exciting to find out when they pull the baby out if we have a son or a daughter!! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! I just have a few weeks left, it's just flown by!

  8. That ultrasound picture is so clear and amazing! So glad to hear he/she is healthy and perfect! :)

Meghan didn't find out with her girls either, and it was so exciting the day of delivery that I swore I was never going to find out either. Jason was not of the same mindset, but it turns out that it all worked out in the end. I discovered by about week 5 that I most certainly do not have the discipline or patience to wait and wonder.

Congratulations on your boy or girl!!!
