Greetings from Paradise

And no, I'm not in Hawaii.

I can't claim to have done anything that exciting or earth-shattering since I've been livin' it up as a bachelorette these last few days, but I have made some observations.

I thought the silence would make me sad. I was wrong!

I figured I'd probably mistakenly turn on Sesame Street or Curious George once or twice. (Or maybe even on purpose.) Ha! Wrong again!

Also, I forgot how refreshing it is to just get in the car and GO without having to grab a diaper bag, extra clothes (just in case), snacks (just in case), buckle car seats, go back upstairs to grab the dolly that just HAS to come along for the ride...

Yesterday I met my mom and sister for lunch and did the most amazing thing. I grabbed my purse, got in my car, and left. It felt so weird and so LIBERATING. And then? I got to eat my lunch uninterrupted.

Finally, I've been amazed at how quickly I can get ready in the morning. A couple times now I've peered in the mirror one last time just to figure out what I forgot since it didn't take f-o-r-e-v-e-r. Earrings? Check. Mascara? Check. Oh, I know! I didn't have to break up fights, clean up messes, get someone more juice, change the channel or answer 3,472 questions while I got ready.

"What's that?"

"What color is that?"

"Can I have some?"

"What's that for?"

"Where do you put that?"

"Who gave that to you?"

"What's that?"

"What's THAT?"

"Why do you need that?"

"Big girls can have that you know."

"Are you done yet?"

"Why won't you share that with me?"

"I can keep that in my room for you if you want."

"Where does that go?"

"What are you going to do next?"

"Daddy doesn't have that."

"What are you doing?"

"Does that hurt?"

"If you let me have some we can match."

I'm shocked I don't have to keep my make-up under lock and key to protect it from Emma. She's obsessed. She's totally obsessed with Chapstick as it is, so we're in trouble when she enters the make up scene. Just this morning I cleared out 4 tubes of Chapstick that she had stashed under her bed. What a stinker!

I've talked to the girls and Gary several times, and they're all having a great time (although Gary is completely exhausted). Emma even had time to talk to me on the phone. Our conversation went something like this:

Me - "Hi, Emma! I miss you!"
Her - "HiMommyByeBye!"
And that was it. *sigh*

Two more quiet days left... I keep reminding myself not to get used to this!

  1. I'm so glad to hear that you are enjoying your time! Hopefully you'll have opportunities in the future (probably well after new baby Osborne enters the picture) to recharge those batteries and take time for precious you. Enjoy the last two days of all-about-Angie time!

  2. I am SO jealous!
However, we both know that if this paradise went on any longer than these few days, you would be miserable in your freedom, wouldn't you. WOULDN'T YOU?? ;-)

    LOL!

But a week, that is good. Enjoy!

  3. I'm filled with awe. And maybe a little envy.

The list of questions you get while getting ready in the morning is priceless, by the way. PRICELESS!

And my kids are also obsessed with Chapstick. Natalie has about six tubes in her various purses. She never uses them, but she wants to keep them handy "just in case, Mom."

  4. Eating lunch with no inturuptions......only having to worry about getting yourself ready in the morning and just being able to get ready in under 2 hours..... WOW!!!! I'm jealous! (but in a good way!). Glad you are enjoying yourself! But I bet you will be glad when your girls get home and they start interupting you again :-)
